Some Graduates of the Center for Purposeful Living

Faculty member Christa Thornburg introduces graduates of the Center for Purposeful Living. An illumined writing follows that helps to describe the purpose for the kind of education offered here at the Center for Purposeful Living. We can reflect on this throughout this graduation ceremony.

Service forms the foundation of the future. In the past ages, it was service with emphasis upon one’s own individual salvation which engrossed the attention of the seeker. Now a new note is sounding forth—the note of growth through service to humanity, through humanity and by humanity. Today we have a world which is steadily coming to the realization that we live and work not alone….
• that Love finds its outlet in SERVICE to others.
• that there is more to life than meets the eye.
• that each and every one of us has a purpose.
• and that we each have as yet undiscovered capacities to share, expressions of love and of service, capacities which can be consciously grown and expanded.

Service is not easy and we are today only beginning to learn how to serve….

The Center for Purposeful Living is a place that teaches us how—in very practical ways—to expand our capacities to serve. In doing so it is as if the future becomes present now.

We are living in a world that is changing rapidly. This REQUIRES us to change as well—to change in ways that intelligently and lovingly help to solve the problems that face humanity. Graduates of CPL (and not everyone graduates) are strong, dedicated, determined people who are seeking to do just that.

Graduates are people who…
• Have learned how to successfully put forth 100%+ effort into whatever lesson life puts in front of
them—they are becoming “TRP.”
• They can be counted on, depended on.
• They show a great deal of deep respect and love towards others.
• They can get things done in a cooperative and responsible way.
• They seek to align with the most good for the greatest number.
• They deeply CARE about others and “put it all on the line” in order to be of service to others.
• They are becoming group oriented and are learning to successfully work in group.
• They have successfully walked through some of the fires on the Path of Learning and have
discovered the brightness of the Light of the Soul.
• They have discovered JOY—they have discovered the Soul.
